Wood Effect Porcelain Tiles FAQs
What is Wood Effect Porcelain Paving?

Wood effect porcelain paving are porcelain tiles with colouring and patterning that give them a wood-like affect. This results in paving with the looks of wood combined with the durability and low-maintenance of porcelain.

Why Choose Wood Effect Porcelain Paving

Natural wood, while beautiful, can warp, rot, and splinter due to moisture and temperature changes. It can also fade in sunlight and is susceptible to termite damage.

On the other hand, our Wood Effect Porcelain Paving is weather-resistant, fade-resistant, termite-proof, low-maintenance, and more environmentally friendly, making it a superior alternative.

How to Lay Wood Effect Porcelain Tiless

Porcelain tiles should always be laid by a trained professional.

  1. Plan the Design: Determine the paver size and how the paving will be edged (e.g., with cobbles).
  2. Establish Drainage Fall: Ensure the paving has a fall (gradient) for drainage, typically away from any buildings.
  3. Inspect Product: Check all porcelain pavers for defects or breakages before use.
  4. Excavate the area to a depth of at least 150mm.
  5. Install a breathable weed membrane.
  6. Fill the excavation about 2/3 full with crushed stone (sub-base) and compact it with a wacker plate.
  7. Mix Mortar: Prepare a semi-dry mortar mix using 4 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement.
  8. Apply Primer (Crucial): Completely cover the back of the porcelain paver with slurry primer (bonding agent) before laying it.
  9. Lay the Mortar: Lay a full mortar bed that is roughly 50mm thick.
  10. Lay the Paver: Carefully place the primed paver onto the mortar bed.
  11.  Use a rubber hammer to gently tap and level the paver, avoiding chipping.
