How to Clean Indoor-Outdoor Tiles
Maintain the seamless beauty of your indoor-outdoor tiles with our simple steps:
- Remove any weeds from between your outdoor tiles.
- Sweep over both your indoor and outdoor tiles to remove the debris.
- Brush over your indoor-outdoor tiles with our porcelain cleaner.
- Indoor tiles may then need to be mopped over with warm water, while outdoor tiles may benefit from a hosing down.
See our paving and patio cleaning guide for more advice on achieving gorgeously clean tiles.Â
How to Lay Porcelain Tiles Indoors
Create a smooth and level porcelain floor for your interior with our steps:
- Tape measure the room to assess the size and number of tiles needed.
- Lay a foundation – generally plywood and a levelling compound if needed.
- Add a moisture-resistant backer board to stop the tiles from popping off.
- Create a smooth surface, ironing out divots and holes.
- Rehearse your laying pattern on a dry floor, starting from the centre.
- Pre-drill any holes you might need in the tiles for pipes or other obstacles.
- Spread our porcelain primer from the centre of the floor.Â
- Spread adhesive from the centre with a notched trowel.
- Make grooves in the adhesive with the trowel.
- Set the first tile down in the centre of the floor, pressing down.
- Position tile spacers.
- Continue placing tiles.
- Remove tile spacers after a quadrant has been completed so they don’t set in the adhesive.
- Give your tile 24 hours to dry,
- Press grout into your tile joints with a rubber float, which can also be used to remove excess grout.
- Remove the grout haze from your tiles with a damp sponge.Â
