Stone Paving FAQs

What is natural stone paving?

Natural stone paving is made of slabs quarried from natural stones such as sandstone, limestone, and granite.

Why choose natural stone paving tiles?

Natural stone paving stones come straight from the earth, making them far more eco-friendly than synthetic pavers. Their natural properties also give them excellent weather resistance, water resistance, durability and strength, and enchanting natural beauty.

What types of natural stone tiles can I choose?

Our range of natural stone tiles includes richly colourful sandstone, classic granite, beautiful Indian stone and elegant limestone. With this wide range, it’s easy to find the perfect paving for your patio, driveway or outdoor space.

Learn more about these stone types and choose the best tiles for your landscaping with help from our expert natural stone guide.

How to lay natural stone paving tiles

Install natural stone paving like so:

  1. Mark out the area to be paved.
  2. Perform a dry run by laying out your paving to ensure everything fits and looks right.
  3. Dig the area, considering the thickness of your stones, a two-inch sub-base, and two inches of mortar.
  4. Add a sub-base of crushed stone or gravel, ensuring it is compacted and level. Use a plate compactor if needed.
  5. Apply enough mortar for a single paver and lay your first slab. This method prevents the mortar from drying out before the slabs are laid.
  6. Allow the paved area to dry for 1-2 days.
  7. Secure the gaps by brushing patio grout into the joints.
  8. Wipe away any excess grout to ensure a clean and neat patio, then leave it to set for another day.
