Paving Levelling System FAQs
What size spacers should be used for porcelain paving?

Usually, a spacer size of 3mm to 5mm is recommended for porcelain pavers. This sizing ensures a balanced and rectified layout, allowing for slight variations in paver sizes while maintaining a seamless flow. Remember, each project is unique, and factors such as the dimensions of your space and personal style preferences may influence the final decision.

When should you use spacers for paving?

Spacers are essential for achieving perfectly even paving. Not only do uniform gaps create a neat and elegant look, but they also make paving maintenance easier in the long run, providing structural stability and effective drainage.

How to lay paving with spacers

If incorporating spacers into the laying process, you should place spacers at the corners of each paver once it has been laid. When laying each consecutive paver, you should ensure it is pushed tightly up against the spacers of the previous slab, for even and uniform spacing.

Spacers should then be removed when the adhesive has partially, but not fully, cured. For fast-acting adhesives, this should be around the 20-minute mark, but check the labelling of your chosen product to be sure.

When your spacers have been removed, sweeping grout into the joints can give an extra helping hand in maintaining the uniform gaps that you have created for even longer.
