Porcelain Cobble FAQs
What are the benefits of porcelain cobbles?

The prime advantages of our porcelain cobbles include their inherent strength and durability, low water absorption rate, versatility in design, slip resistance, and eco-friendliness. These features make them an ideal choice for any outdoor space.

Our porcelain cobbles are exceptionally resilient to weather changes, ensuring they maintain their aesthetic appeal throughout all seasons. They are engineered to withstand the harshest of conditions.

Where are porcelain cobbles made?

Our porcelain cobbles are a testament to Italian craftsmanship. Each piece is carefully crafted in Italy, reflecting the country’s rich tradition of producing high-quality ceramics. Not only this, but we deliberately work with green-thinking factories to provide eco-friendly cobble paving options. These factories implement sustainable practices such as recovering all water used and collecting waste materials from processing to reduce raw material consumption.

How to lay porcelain cobbles

Lay porcelain cobbles neatly and securely with the following steps.

  1. Mark boundaries with spray paint and set string lines for guidance.
  2. Dig out the area (approx 230mm deep)
  3. Level the ground.
  4. Ensure the ground and base have a slope for drainage.
  5. Lay approx 150mm of MOT Type 1 in two layers.
  6.  Compact thoroughly using a plate compactor.
  7. Prepare a semi-dry, workable mortar: 3 parts sand, 1 part cement, 1 part water.
  8. Spread the mortar onto the sub-base (approx 15mm to 30mm gap allowance).
  9. Apply a slurry primer/bonding agent to the entire underside of the cobble sett immediately before placing it.
  10. Lay the primed sett onto the fresh mortar (wet-on-wet).
  11. Maintain an 8mm to 15mm joint gap.
  12. Tap gently with a rubber mallet to bed and level.
  13. Immediately wipe off any mortar or primer that contacts the surface of the porcelain.
