Often overlooked, coping stones are an important part of finishing off your wall or patio/path. For walls, they are designed to sit on the top to protect it from weathering and damage over time. Coping stones also provide an attractive finish which is very aesthetically pleasing. Without rounding off your design with some well-placed coping stones, dripping rainwater will run off the surface of your wall which is likely to lead to a build-up of unpleasant algae. Sometimes people like to choose a larger, flatter set of coping stones which can also act as seating on low walls around paths, flowerbeds or patios.
However, coping stones are also an ideal way to finish off your path or patio by providing an attractive border. You can choose to add coping stones as edging in the same colour and style as your main paving slabs, or add unique interest by opting for different but complimentary colours – or a mix of the two! You could even use your coping stones to finish off the border of a flower bed or water feature.
