Porcelain Paving Edging FAQs
Why use porcelain edgings?

Porcelain edges give a sleek, polished finish to your outdoor area, clearly defining and separating different spaces for a uniform look.

By creating a barrier, porcelain edging stops grass, weeds and more from spreading into certain areas, along with keeping decorative aggregates and pebbles in place. Plus, with the low-maintenance and durability that they offer, your elegant garden borders will last for years to come.

How to lay porcelain edgings

Create neat and stable porcelain edging via the following steps:

  1. Choose Your Line: Decide on a straight or curved shape.
  2. Mark the Path: Use a string line (straight) or flexible plastic (curved).
  3. Check the shape from above and adjust.
  4. Dig the Trench: Cut along the line with a spade, removing all weeds/roots.
  5. Depth Check: Factor in 50mm stone, 50mm mortar and your stone depth.
  6. Add Base: Fill the trench with 50mm of crushed stone.
  7. Compact & Mortar: Tamp the stone, then lay an even 50mm mortar bed.
  8. Lay Edging: Install stones, tap lightly with a rubber mallet, and check level with a spirit level. Keep spacing consistent.
  9. Cure & Finish: Let it set overnight. Clean stones, then apply jointing compound.

What size is best for porcelain edging?

For strong and durable edging that still appears sleek and subtle, we recommend a depth of 2cm. This is also the typical depth of most porcelain pavers, creating a uniform look when edging a porcelain patio.

The width and height of your porcelain edging tiles, however, depend on the size of the area to be edged and the purpose of the edging.
